Assessor

The Waddington Town Board appoints the Assessor for a six-year term.

Office Hours:  Appointments can be made by calling the Assessor directly or contacting the Town Clerk’s Office

The Assessor’s Job:

The Assessor is responsible for preparing market value estimates for every property in the Town/Village of Waddington. The values, or assessments, are used to determine the tax burden for each parcel. Annually, the Assessor reviews permits, property transfers, and deeds to determine if a change in assessment is necessary.

The Assessor is also responsible for administering tax exemptions, including those for Senior Citizens, School Tax Relief (STAR), Agriculture, and Veterans.

Assessment Calendar:

July 1st- Valuation Date

March 1st- Taxable Status Date

March 1st-  Exemption application deadline

May 1st – Tentative Assessment Roll filed

Grievance Day- 1st Thursday after the 4th Tuesday in May

Basic Star: To apply for the basic STAR exemption, please go to the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance website www.tax.ny.gov or call them @ 518-457-2036.


Enhanced STAR:  To be eligible for the Enhanced STAR program at least one owner of the property must be 65 years of age or will be by 12/31.  Your adjusted gross income must be less than $79,050.  You must show proof of both age and income.
