The Town of Waddington is planning a town wide reassessment for the spring of 2025. Property owners are encouraged to attend the informational presentations. The first presentation will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 @ 7PM in the Old Town Hall, 38 Main Street, Waddington.
Topics to be discussed: What is a town wide reassessment and why do one. What is the process and how does a property owner contest the new assessment. There will be a slide presentation and ample time for questions from the public.
It is strongly encouraged that property owners with agricultural land apply for an Agricultural Land Assessment. This program acts as an exemption in the sense that it caps the assessed value per acre of certain agricultural land. The basic eligibility for the Agricultural Land Assessment are as follows: the farm operation has a minimum annual gross income of $10,000 over the last two years and the land is at least 7 acres in size. If the land is not owned by a farm operation but is leased or rented to one with at least a 5 year agreement, then it may also be eligible. The application process has several steps and can take some time so applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as they can. You can get more information on the town website www.waddingtonnewyork.com or by contacting the assessor by email assessor5282@gmail.com or by calling the office 315-388-5629. Â
